Tinnitus Improvement with Sound and Tongue Stimulation

A non-invasive medical device can deliver sound and electrical stimulation to the tongue has shown to improve tinnitus symptoms. The procedure, known as bimodal neuromodulation, included participants who used the device for a minimum of 36 hours in one-hour sessions spread over 12 weeks.

The current problem for the consumer would be how to pay for this rather long treatment. The study came out in 2020, so it may be a year to three years from now when insurance agrees to pay for it. This gives hope to the millions of TBI victims who have had to live with lesser or greater levels of tinnitus a condition underappreciated for its significant impact on everyday life.
