Nerve Repair with Fat Derived Stem Cells Successful

Peripheral nerves (those outside the brain or spinal cord) can often cause ongoing and devastating nerve pain in the extremities. Microsurgery often cannot address all of the cell death involved in some of these conditions. However, combining nerve repair with placement of fat derived stem cells in the dorsal root ganglia showed nerve regeneration and neuroprotection with significant reduction of symptoms. (Reid AJ, et al. 2001).
