New Marker for TBI

Yet another biological marker for the presence of traumatic brain injury has been found. In a Chinese study (Huang, M. et al. 2009) the changes in plasma micro particle procoagulant activity in patients was correlated with brain injury and is thought to contribute to the inflammatory reaction after trauma. The higher presence of this substance is associated with poorer clinical outcome.
