STORIES OF AMAZING RECOVERIES

Submitted By: David McFadyen
Email: coral.mcfadyen@bigpond.com

My story is about a car accident that occured in March 1971, in which as a passenger in left front of vehicle, it is believed my head broke the windscreen along with other facial lacerations broken teeth etc.

I would like to tell my story because now 39 years later I am still coming to grips with circumstances surrounding that accident and the resultant lifestyle changes that occurred & largely the lack of understanding of family members, freinds, people in administrative positions in religious & secular associations ect.

Back in those years there was little understanding of brain injury & absolutely no counselling or rehabilitation support to assist patients to recover, whereas today far more is known about brain injury & it is my desire to help people who are associated with patients to understand what is today known & thus avoid the resultant rejection & critisizm of brain injury sufferers. I would therefore welcome communication from anyone who is a sufferer or is in association with a person or persons who have suffered brain injury
