STORIES OF AMAZING RECOVERIES

Submitted By: Laura Breckenridge

I was in a car accident on May 25, 2003. I know I'm very lucky to even be alive. I broke my pelvis, burst my bladder, fractured my skull, received a Traumatic Brain Injury, and there is the debate over whether or not I broke my clavicle, my current doctor says I must have. I was in a coma for four days. I don't remember the first month after my car accident. As of the fall of 2003, I started taking courses at a Community College where I lived. I am now going full time at a private University. My current major plan is nursing. I decided that Hospitals need more good nurses after having to spend some time in the Hospital, so I set out to be one. It was along road to recovery, but thanks to my family, friends, and all the prayers I received I recovered wonderfully, all things considered. If I could give advice to people who suffered a TBI and their families and friends, my advice would be patience and understanding for everyone.
